About
Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones
Actor ◊ Musician ◊ Director ◊ Producer ◊ Writer ◊ Creator
Originally known as the front man of groundbreaking Hip Hop group Onyx, Sticky Fingaz has transcended all expectations and made a name for himself not only as a solo rap star and actor, but as a talented producer, director and writer.
Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Sticky was born Kirk Jones. He launched his career performing with cousin Fredro Starr. They were soon discovered by late hip hop legend Jam Master Jay of Run D.M.C. The duo formed Onyx and in 1993 released their first album, entitled “Bacdafucup,” which has sold millions of copies worldwide and spawned Hip Hop classics such as “Slam” and “Throw Ya Gunz.” Onyx went on to release two more top selling albums before Sticky Fingaz began his solo rap career. After making appearances on multi-platinum albums including Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP” and Snoop Doggy Dogg’s “The Top Dogg,” Sticky released his first solo album in 2000, entitled “Blacktrash: The Autobiography Of Kirk Jones.” His second solo album, “Decade,” followed in 2003.
Sticky’s musical career segued him naturally into the acting world. He has starred in a number of high profile films, including “Clockers,” “Dead Presidents,” “In Too Deep,” “Next Friday,” “Flight Of The Phoenix” and the upcoming Bollywood film, “Karma, Confessions And Holi.” Sticky Fingaz has also found his way on to the small screen in guest starring roles on highly acclaimed shows such as “New York Undercover,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Twilight Zone,” “CSI: Miaimi” and his infamous recurring character, Kern Little, on “The Shield.” He also starred in UPN’s Francis Ford Coppola-produced drama, “Platinum.” Recently, Sticky Fingaz was seen weekly as the star of FX’s controversial drama series based on the Iraqi war, “Over There,” executive produced by Steven Bochco. The show premiered with the eighth biggest cable numbers of any series in history.
Sticky’s current starring role transforms him into the superhero he’s always wanted to be, Blade. The Spike TV/New Line series, based on highly successful Marvel Comic books and feature films, premiered June 28 on Spike TV pulling record ratings for the network. “Blade: The Series” is breaking ratings records in multiple foreign markets.
In addition, Sticky has just completed two feature films via his production company, Major Independents, entitled “A Day In The Life” and “Caught On Tape.” He wrote, directed, executive produced and stars in these progressive, Shakespearian-street, Hip Hop musicals. The all-star casts include Omar Epps, Faizon Love, Mekhi Phifer, Cedric The Entertainer, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Rappaport, Drena De Niro, Fredro Starr, Clarence Williams III and Bokeem Woodbine. Lions Gate Films will be distributing both films.
Sticky’s future holds a third solo album, along with a brand new, rock-flavored Onyx reunion album, a guest spot on HBO’s “Tell Me You Love Me” and a starring role along side Busta Rhymes in the upcoming feature film “Order Of Redemption.” Sticky is also featured in the brand new Electronic Arts video Game “Def Jam Icon.”
